The educational day always has interactions between students and students, students and teachers, teachers and administrations, and then the whole school to families and the outdoor life of every student. As a result of those interactions, we might see different types of actions, reactions, and levels of interrelatedness, which create a culture in our environment. According to constructivism, other socio-cultural theories, and other psychologists like Vygotsky, humans are socially constructed creatures. The settings we belong to could affect us positively and negatively at different levels. The effect is based on how the individual emotionally responds to that influence. That has recently brought the attention of educational research.
As others call it, emotional intelligence, emotional quotient, or social-emotional learning has become a buzzword in educational settings and those interested in motivation and personal development. EI refers to one’s ability to allow the occurrence of emotions, understand emotions, manage emotions, and use them. Daily, humans experience a range of different types of emotions. These are positive emotions and negative emotions. As social creatures, we belong to groups of other individuals like workplaces, families, schools, and different environments. Groups of people share a common language, symbols, beliefs, and rituals. Those shared beliefs and practices are being transferred from one generation to another, which we call culture.
